We are back again with another watch post. You already know by now how much we love watches. We have been increasing our watch collection slowly and it is time to add another member to our collection, MAVEN Watches. This modern, minimalistic and mesmerizing watch brand caught our eye on Indiegogo, and we know you will love MAVEN Watches too!

MAVEN Watches

As it is a tradition at New Labels Only, we always talk about the brand’s identity and backstory.

MAVEN Watches was created by a team of young entrepreneurs and designers from Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. They wanted to create a watch collection which is esthetic, durable and will walk through time with you.

Their inspiration of the watch and its style came from their surrounding and their home, Hong Kong Island. They created MAVEN Watches which combined the landscape and the peaceful nature of Hong Kong. From there, they came up the Urban Nature collection with two watch series, the Enduring series and Artisan series, each focusing on a different statement.

They first started out on Indiegogo in March 2017 with a funding target of around $12,000, but they surpassed their goal and raised $20,000 with 163 backers. Now they have their own online store, where you can buy the MAVEN Watches directly.

The Features

Both the Enduring Series and the Artisan Series share the same features and mechanics.

They both have a Swiss Ronda 762, which is a two hand quartz movement, so no second hand.

Sapphire Crystal Glass, for its hardness, durability and also scratch resistance.

316L Stainless Steel Casing, with a brushed finish gives out a subtle yet beautiful patina. The size of the watch face is 40MM and has a thickness of 9MM. The casing come in different colours, Silver, Champagne Gold and Rose Gold. The back has a matte finish with the MAVEN Watches logo engraved. However, they are currently providing personal engraving for the Christmas Season. So if you want to make the watch more personal, you can add your name or any other information you like.

Italian Leather straps from some of the finest hides available and vegetable-tanned, meaning it is sustainable, eco-friendly and non-sensitive. The width of the strap is 20MM and is interchangeable with quick release pins.

3ATM Water Resistance, which offers exceptional resistance in acidic and ocean salt water areas.

The Enduring Series

The Enduring Series is a collection of modern style with personal statement. It has a unique genuine marble dial and it create a bold, vibrant and striking look.

The Artisan Series

The Artisan Series is a blend of Hong Kong modern architecture and beautiful dynamic natural landscape. Its simple analog dial and natural colour tone makes it perfect for any fashion statement.

Our Review

We have been lucky enough to receive one of the watch from the Artisan Series. We chose the Storm Cloud to review. We will try to keep the review short and sharp as we have done an unboxing and full video review below.

When we opened the box, the watch did not jump at us in terms of its look. The watch had a calm and collected look with a quite playful and simple dial. The watch did not feel heavy when picked up, it probably weighs around 70-80g which is perfect for us.

The leather strap is very soft and also quite thick, but the strap ,with its softness, will mold on your wrist. The last time we have worn such a strap was with the AVI-8 4011-0G. We do have a small wrist but that was not an issue and it will fit small wirst sized 12.5 – 13.5 cm.

We took the watch for a test drive and we were pleased. The Storm Cloud definitely went with any style of clothing and even if you are wearing smart clothing, the watch will not look out of place. The size of the dial was not an issue and moving the wrist was normal. The thickness of the casing also did not raise any issue.

We have to applause the design and style of the Storm Cloud. The Navy/Light blue background along with the white hands, subtle number marking and Rose Gold casing combined to create something unique and enrapturing. On top of that the soft colour tone strap blended perfectly with the different colour combination of the watch.

MAVEN Watches Prices

Both the Artisan and Enduring Series are priced at $169 /£129 / €143. You can also but additional straps $25.

Personally, we think this price this very affordable and a bit low. The reason we are saying a bit low is because the features and functions you are getting in the watches are of premium quality. In addition, the watches are produced locally by experienced watch mechanics, who inherited the impeccable craftsmanship from the golden age of watch industry. Finally the personalised engraving is also free of charge.
