We first reviewed maven Watches when we were first starting to get New Label Only going and that was in 2017. The watch we reviewed back then was the Storm Cloud Camel, and we still have that watch in our collection today. This time around we are going to be reviewing their latest addition, the MUS-01 Collection. The model we have on our hands is the Khaki-P.

Maven Watches Khaki P Unboxing
First Impression
The packaging of the watch was different. Every time we have received a watch from Maven Watches, the box is usually rectangular but for the Maven Watches Khaki P, it came in a normal box. It was well packaged and once opened the Khaki P gave a subtle and welcoming look. It was not too bold and screaming out but something that is cool and quiet. The sand blasting casing is a nice feature. However, there is something which caught our eye in the wrong way. We will come to this later.
Dial
Looking at the dial, something looked off straightaway. We thought it was because of the khaki strap but it was not. After carefully aligning the hands, there is a small defect. The 12 o’clock arrow is slight off more to the left. While this may not be an issue for many, it is something which avid watch collectors will pick up straight away and will be like a small itch. We really hope this is a manufacturing defect and hopefully the first and last one.
Moving on, the dial on the Maven Watches Khaki P is minimalistic and subtle. The large open dial is beautifully envisage and placed on the watch. The outer index with small numbers adds a bit of character to the watch. The inner index has both batons and numbers. The batons represent the minutes while the numbers represent the hour. The inner index is closed off with a thin black line with arrows at each quarter. The watch is delightfully balanced and the choice of the ivory dial is excellent. The black writing with the ivory dial goes well together and the small break with the orange accents helps to break it at ivory overload.
The hands have a sword design to them and have been given a luminous coating. The hands fit the simplistic design and does not overload the dial. They are easy to read and the luminous coating works well under poor lighting.
There is another mistake to the dial. Again, this will definitely be another itch for watch fans. The second hand does not align with the batons at all. In some areas of the inner index, the second hand will be either in between the baton or slightly to the right. It is a disappointment. A great looking minimalistic watch but got let down with minor errors. We strongly believe that this a one off manufacturing issue rather consistent problem. We recently reviewed the Maven Military Urban Scout watch, and did not have any issues at all.
Casing
With the casing on the Maven Watches Khaki P, we are looking at 40mm by 9mm. It is not the largest dial nor the smallest. It fits well on the wrist and also sits well. Given the small wrist, the size is perfect. Also given the minimalistic look Maven Watches Khaki P is going for, the 40mm is the perfect size.
The lugs are not the largest and they are curved. With curved lugs, you know the case will be pressed down on the wrist. This does not give a bulge on the wrist and looks well. Comfort wise, the watch does not get in the way of the wrist and sits very well.
Sapphire Crystal Glass has been used, and we cannot complain. Glares and reflection are at its lowest and this is a tough and durable glass. Given the watch is a field watch, it is the perfect choice for the lens.
The crown is simple and has been engraved with Maven Watches’ logo. With its teeth cur design, it is easy to use the crown.
Overall, the casing is perfect. We love the colour of the casing and it has been sand blasted. The sand blasting has created a polished touch with a mottled/ pebbled appearance to the watch.
Movement
The movement in the Maven Watches Khaki P is a Swiss Ronda Quartz 762 Movement. A simple and reliable movement where you can expected a time accuracy of +-3 seconds per week.
Strap
We have an elastic parachute strap. The strap is easily adjustable and it is very comfortable. Given the elasticity and adjustability of the strap, no wrist is too small. The buckle is slightly different to other watches. It is more of a hook but it is safe and stable.
Buy, Shortlist or Avoid?
As always, let us know about the price. The Maven Watches Khaki P retails for £160/ €187/ $203. The price of the watch is affordable. However, we have to question the elephant in the room. The alignment needs to be fixed. For watch fans, this is crucial turn off and we can only hope this is a one off for our review model. Now given the rest of the watch and its features, we will shortlist this watch. If they alignment were correct, then it would have been upgraded to ‘buy’.
