First Impression

We have to mention the packing. It comes with a simple rectangular box but inside there is a leather watch pouch. It is a nice addition and unexpected. You can carry the pouch everywhere and it also looks the part. First view of the watch, it looks very classy and a a classic pilot watch. There is not a lot going on with the dial and it looks clean. The use of the stainless steel, black leather and hint of gold theme with the index, work well together. So far, we like the look of the watch!

Unboxing

Dial

Let’s start with the outer index. Simple batons in a gold/yellow colour to help measure the minute/second. Longer batons have been used in five minutes intervals and there is a large 3D dot at the end. The outer index has been well thought of as the colour contrast well against the black background and it makes it standout.

Moving inside, numbers have been used to represent each hour and all but 12 and 6 o’clock are in a white colour. The other two are in the gold/yellow colour. They are all of a decent size and legibility is clear. The design used for the numbers gives off a 3D effect and they look very clean and smart on the dial. All the numerals have Retro Swiss Super-LumiNova Lumin, so legibility at night will not be an issue.

Pilot Watches

There are two sub-dials, minute and hour, both located on the opposite end of the watch. Simple gold/yellow batons have been used with only three numerals appearing at the 1/3 intervals. The hands on the sub-dials are in white and legibility is fine.

The main hour and second hand has a sword design with the luminova filled in at the centre. They are of a decent size and do not take too much space one the watch. The second hand, in white, has a sharp design.

The brand and logo are stamped at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock position, and they blend in with the aesthetic of the dial.

Overall, the colour combination, 3D effect and design on the Baltany Watches Pilot Quartz Chronograph has been well chosen. They are work in tandem to create a very good looking and classy watch.

Casing

Made from 316L stainless steel, with 39mm by 12.5mm, this watch will sit on your wrist comfortably. Some may argue that it is on the smaller size and something for the future for Baltany Watches to think about is maybe to add a larger size probably a 42mm. That been said, the curved lugs also helps to push the casing to the wrist and it does not stick out.

We have a Sapphire Lens with Anti Reflection Coating and this a great choice. Strong, durable and minimal reflection from all angles. The lens do add another layer on top of the casing rather than just blending in. It helps to bring the dial to the attention.

The pushers are strong and the best pushers always ensures you hear the click, and this is what Baltany Watches Pilot Quartz Chronograph has. You can feel the quality of the pushers and they are reactive. The screw in crown is new for a quartz watch. We have not seen this before, while it does not take anything from the watch, it also does not add anything. A simple push and pull would suffice. When pulling out the crown, there is a stage for the date function as you can hear the rotation. Maybe a date window for the future?

The back casing is simple with no signatures or designs. Adding maybe a logo or some writing such as the ATM would be good. Similarly no signature on the side of the crown. Not an issue but it will just a little more to the overall aesthetics.

Strap

The strap is made from genuine leather. There are enough holes available, so if you have a small wrist the Baltany Watches Pilot Quartz Chronograph strap will not be an issue. The strap does not need breaking into and fits well around the wrist. It sits comfortable and there is no concern. Shout out for the little use of thread at the end of the strap, another nice little feature.

Despite the no quick release pins, Baltany Watches have provided a strap removal tool. Excellent care for the customers.

Movement

Powering the Baltany Watches Pilot Quartz Chronograph is a Sieko VK64 quartz. We saw this in the Vario Empire and we loved the movement. Life expectancy of the watch is around 3 years and you can expect a time accuracy of +/- 20 seconds per month.

In terms of the chronograph, they are sharp and there is no issue with misalignment. The pushers are reactive and work excellently. No issues found when using the chronometer to measure and also when resetting the watch.
